Dr. Murphy is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a graduate of the University of Southern California. He specialized in prosthodontics at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he earned his certificate in Prosthodontics and a Master’s degree using digital modeling to analyze dental aesthetics.
Dr. Murphy is well known for his work as a skilled ceramist and lab technician, creating bespoke crowns and veneers for his patients. Additionally, Dr. Murphy is an adjunct clinical professor for the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Graduate Prosthodontics.
Outside of work, Dr. Murphy is also a professional artist, published author, and illustrator. His works have been commissioned by the American Museum of Natural History, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Adirondack League. He is the author and illustrator of T-Rex Trying, T-Rex Trying and Trying, and T-Rex Tries Again (Penguin Random House).
Dr. Murphy lives in Raleigh with his wife, two daughters, and dog, Toby. He enjoys spending time with his girls, playing hockey, fly fishing, drawing, painting, sculpting, and taking on fun projects with his daughters (like building the world’s biggest treehouse).
